While I was in high school, I discovered the joy of volunteering but also the unfortunate truth that not a lot of high schoolers have the opportunity to volunteer and get involved in their community, especially with exams and their other commitments. Through Youth 4 Difference, I hope to encourage active citizenship and to make contributing to the community more accessible and fun.

I joined Youth 4 Difference as it offers a redefined approach to volunteering as the opportunity makes volunteering an enjoyable experience rather than a chore. Youth 4 Difference is a dynamic platform for building social connections with peers across many schools and communities, a key highlight of the organisation. I believe youth engagement through volunteering fosters a collective action towards a better world and being a part of the early journey is truly inspiring. I am currently enrolled in Knox Grammar and participate in a range of co-curricular genres from sport, music, academics and community service, among these activities Youth 4 Difference is a special curriculum that highlights from all of these, as it gives me a platform where I can make a meaningful and positive change.

I joined Youth 4 Difference to not only help out the community, but also to advertise volunteering as a fun and social activity that doesn’t need to be boring. I realised I can make an impact and utilise my connections to effectively communicate the benefits of volunteering across a wide range of people, which is especially crucial due to the growing need for volunteers. I’m currently in year 10 at Knox Grammar School and enjoy playing a variety of sports, along with taking part in musicals, and playing the drums!

I joined Youth 4 Difference so that I could help give back to the community while having a great time with friends. Youth 4 Difference allows me to just spend a little bit of my time each week giving back and doing my part to help the world. I think Y4D is an amazing way to help those in need in a variety of different ways. Some of my interests include playing in orchestras at school where I play keyboard, along with tennis, and learning Chinese.

I am enthusiastic about Youth 4 Difference as it offers the unique opportunity to network with students outside of my school. Through Youth 4 Difference, I found a group young people who share similar passions with me in volunteering whom I would never have otherwise had the chance to meet. Fostering a more service-driven community has been an especially uplifting experience which I will remember well into the future.

I discovered Youth 4 Difference as it offered new volunteering opportunities specifically for high school students. I especially like how volunteering is now a single google form away with Y4D when compared to the long processes of traditional organisations. Y4D has eliminated most of the barrier of entry to volunteering as a whole for me, which is especially useful to busy high-school students to fit in volunteering into their schedule.
